Cervical Cancer Projects

Section I

Overview

In 2019, we launched a new initiative to tackle cervical cancer. In addition to helping women access cervical cancer screens, we launched a cervical cancer quality initiative to understand the quality of care across Chicago and where women may encounter barriers to the highest quality care. A Cervical Cancer Committee composed of obstetrician-gynecologists, gynecological oncologists, pediatricians, radiation oncologists, nurse navigators, residency program directors and other specialists, has been created and meets regularly. The Committee’s overall goal is to eradicate cervical cancer in the Chicago area through gathering data, measuring quality of care, identifying gaps in services, effecting systemic change through policy and legislative initiatives and implementing quality improvement efforts.
